One of the lasting consequences of Covid-19 is likely to be the rise of Telemedicine. Technology based solutions are enabling doctors to expand their reach with the ability to remotely examine more patients in a shorter amount of time, minimizing the number of people entering hospitals and medical facilities. But is telemedicine a sustainable long-term opportunity for entrepreneurs?

The concept of telemedicine has been around for a number of years with global organizations such as Teladoc Health and Babylon Heath becoming increasingly well-known.

In MENA, chronic diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease are prevalent, often as a result of unhealthy lifestyles, including poor eating habits, lack of physical exercise and stress. Telemedicine is beginning to come of age in a region which has struggled with having an effective healthcare ecosystem, with the potential to be a game-changer.
